Salt Lake City residents have a chance to compete for some "green" money from JetBlue in a contest this month with eight other cities served by the airline.

Customers may vote for their favorite city online at greencityvote.com through April 30.

The winning city receives a $50,000 grant for a green space in celebration of Earth Month.

Past winders include Hartford, Conn., and Long Beach, Calif., which used grants to renovate parks. They won against much larger-population cities.

JetBlue chose nine cities for its competition this year: Salt Lake City; Austin, Texas; Boston, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Long Beach, Orlando, Fla.; New York City, Tampa, Fla.; and Washington, D.C.

Salt Lake City is home to several of JetBlue's national operations, including much of its reservations, baggage and other customer service.
